After several years in the top three, by 2024 Marbella has established itself as the most important tourist destination in Europe. This new dynamic has raised the standard of quality in all aspects of the real estate industry, as well as in services and hospitality, which will continue to increase and evolve during 2025.

Get to know the most exclusive luxury homes in Marbella and the Costa del Sol.

Marbella, capital of luxury

The city of Marbella has been endowed with designs and qualities in its buildings that have nothing to envy from other select luxury capitals in the world: its exquisite gastronomic offer, which includes several Michelin-starred restaurants.

Likewise, luxury shops and international brands adorn the streets and neighbourhoods of Marbella, while music and art stars have made the Costa del Sol town an obligatory stop for their concerts and tours, giving the town a lustre and grandeur that has been quickly embraced by both new and seasoned residents alike.

Marbella’s Ultra-Luxury

Few cities in the world have made it into the Ivy League of ultra-luxury tourist destinations. For the wealthier classes, this new level of ultra-luxury, which has become ubiquitous, makes Marbella even more attractive as a permanent residence, as well as establishing itself as a holiday destination.

Increasing numbers of people with very high purchasing power are choosing to spend more time in Marbella, surrounding themselves with people of the same socio-economic status. This unique fact is what makes the current evolution of Marbella so special.

Marbella, Europe’s Best Luxury Destination

Marbella has established itself in the top echelon of luxury destinations in recent years, having won several of the most prestigious awards. In 2022, Marbella was awarded the prestigious European Best Destination award for being the most exclusive destination in Europe by Europe’s most visited travel and culture website. In the same year, Marbella also came second in the Best Global Destination category, beating iconic destinations such as Montecarlo, Gstaad, Capri and Madeira.

In 2024, Marbella was distinguished with the top award of European Best Destinations: Best Overall Destination, recognising it as the Best European Destination. This award is particularly significant as it is the result of the votes of more than one million highly experienced travellers, which makes it even more important.

Marbella has also been recognised for the quality of its beaches, which in 2024 received 11 Blue Flags, two more than the previous year and the most in the whole of Andalucía. This feat demonstrates the quality of Marbella’s coastline, placing it at the forefront of European ‘sun and sand’ destinations.

VIP services in Marbella

Malaga airport has adapted to the needs of the ultra-luxury traveller with the introduction of a new VIP service which includes separate check-in with no queuing and private security checks. Travellers are met personally at their hotels, their luggage is collected and they are escorted to a private lounge before being transferred directly to the aircraft. This service, provided by Ambaar, will be located in Terminal 3 and will serve both departing and arriving passengers.
